Think Tanev will be able to find his groove on the big club without traditional partner Keith Ballard to balance out the blue line? It seems Ballard could be out for a while and the Canucks need to know if Tanev is ready for another playoff run.

"Keith's had a sore neck and when you're dealing with anything that involves neck/head it's some-times difficult to figure out if it's concussion-related or a neck trauma issue," Gillis said.

I'd say Tanev was probably propping up Ballard more than Ballard was propping up Tanev. Kid should be fine, but he'll back down before the trade deadline I guess so he's waiver-exempt or something for the playoffs. I don't quite understand it, but I'm sure Mike Gillis does.
