    Cory Schneider

It's starting to look like a really really good NHL goalie.

So what do the Canucks do with him?

We've had too many Dany Saborins to give him for just anything. If a fantastic offer comes along, jump on it, but having two great goalies is a nice luxury to have and Schneider is a good dependable, stable backup.

Has anyone ever won the cup with two goalies splitting the starts?

It's an interesting idea if you can manage the egos and make the right calls.

You can't let Schneider be a distraction in the playoffs if he keeps this up. You give Luongo immense pressure to be perfect with a nice shiny toy on the bench. So, yeah maybe go in with the knowledge of managing starts.

    Take the Stanley Cup Finals.

Knowing Luongo is not a good road playoff goalie and his struggles in Boston in Games 3 & 4, it's decided after Game 4 that Luongo will start Game 5 and Schneider Game 6, no matter what happens. Luongo gets his Game 5 shutout and then Schneider gets his chance to prove his worth.

It's a good idea, but frought to second-guessing and Luongo could be mentally fragile enough to retreat with some internal competition.

hard to argue with production. I'm all in favor of keeping Schneids in to continue the run tho.

He picked up the NHL's 2nd star award today too. Big news for a team trying to turn the corner. Individual accomplishments are something they can at least rally around.

It's his start tomorrow in Columbus. Wonder how Luongo reacts to all of this?

Luongo will get his chance once Schneider cools down. Schneider v Sanford tonight shows you how far this team has come in backup goaltending.

I've always felt comfortable with giving both goalies on a team equal starts regardless of salary. Ride the hot hand. The Oliers did it with Fuhr and Moog to great success. Moog knew his place come playoff time.

I know in the cap era, we stand to lose one pretty quick. But in the near-term, this is a real team strength. We can figure out if there is a place to unload Lugo, or cash in Cory, when we get closer to the deadline.
