Vancouver does not want Riots again...Our City Video
The 2012 NHL playoffs are right around the corner. We all remember what happened in Vancouver BC last year after the Canucks lost game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals to the Boston Bruins.
June 15 2011 will NOT be a day people of Vancouver want to remember.
Yes indeed. Vancouver rioted. The city made the worlds headlines for all the wrong reasons. The exact opposite type of exposure they got during the Olympics a short time before.
It wasn't all fans of course, just a few hundred morons, but the point was made.
And now Vancouver, and the Canucks organization are trying to get out ahead of the 2012 playoffs with a message for BC, and Vancouver Canucks hockey fans.
The Vancouver Canucks Celebrate Responsibility Videos
Here is the Canucks’ Our Home video that encourages folks to keep the excessive celebrations under wraps.
Nice touch having former Canucks legends Trevor Linden and Stan Smyl on board. As well as current Canucks' stars Ryan Kesler, Kevin Bieksa and Henrik Sedin.
It kills me that this was necessary, but it was.
Yeah this is so embarrassing. I still can't begin to figure out the mindset of the rioters who not only had the idea but also followed through on it. Like, how do they exist on the same planet I do?
UBC student apologizes for role in Vancouver riot, criticizes social media mob | Vancouver, Canada | Straight.com
I love this line, "Cacnio says she loves Vancouver, never intended to participate in a riot, and found it difficult to foresee the consequences of her actions."
"At the time, being a part of the riot was simply to fulfill the adrenaline rush I was looking and hoping for – an adrenaline rush that I previously got from post-winning games: hugging randoms, dancing on the streets, honking car horns non-stop, and high-fiving just about everybody. In the same way that everybody enjoyed collectively showing pride in our team, it was enjoyable to express my disappointment in a collective manor."
WHY WOULD YOU EVER USE THAT AS A DEFENCE
This video made me laugh, pretty funny they think this is going inspire the thugs not to riot.
I'm really not sure what else they can do at this point, sadly.
That's pathetic. What the hell are they teaching students at UBC anyways? Needs a term of island education, me thinks
