Less people, less booze keys to Vancouver playoff plan

The CBC posted a story earlier this week regarding the City of Vancouver's plans for playoff celebrations and viewings around the city. So far the plan seems to be limiting the amount of people and the amount of alcohol entering into the downtown core this year.

    I don't know if that'll work..

seems naive to believe people will willingly stay away from the entertainment/bar district, but hey good luck with that

Yeah, the entire time reading it all I could think was "challenge accepted." But then again, I live in Kitsilano during the summer, so it's only a bus over the bridge. I'm guessing the Police Chief was referring to those coming in from the outer suburbs.

Did you see that thing about the police stopping buses on July 1 and searching passengerz for booze was deemed unconstitutional?

its also seems really tough to sell a community centre to 20 y/o burbkids over the bright lights of downtown....

Yeah they've completely fumbled this whole thing. Shutting down the busses is a HUGE problem. Limit liquor all you want, but don't go crazy over trying to control the downtown core. If you nuke downtown drinking Burrard will just become the new Granville anyways.
