    NHL to embrace no-touch icing?

"My prediction? Hybrid icing will finally see the light of the day after years of discussion, judging from the positive feedback Monday."

Pierre LeBrun believes no touch icing will be embraced by the NHL sooner rather than later, what do you think Canucks fans, is it time?

long overdue, way too many injuries. who was that guy in Edmonton who had a great camp this year but broke his femur on an icing play and pretty much saw his career die?

I respect the danger that still exists today, but I also read a few Tweets just over the weekend that said a pair of U.S. college games had been decided this week over controversial blown no-touch calls. I really don't know which is the worse of the two evils. I'd advocate referee discretion but we all know how the NHL handles accountability in regards to officiating.

according to Kris King, vice president of Hockey Operations.

"We are the same this year as last year," King said, referencing the number of concussions incurred during the 2011-12 season. "The increase that happened last year (in relation to the 2009-10 season), did not happen this year. It has leveled out."

Hockey's a fast and violent game. Are you saying we should eliminate every exchange in hockey that has ended a career? That'd make things radically different.

Just remember that when the Sedins' bank-pass off the back wall is nullified. Only referee discretion on the calls can save plays like that.

The Sedins have enough tricks in their bag, they can adapt.
