More news out of the UW football program today has the Huskies hiring Tosh Lupoi as defensive line coach.
Rumors had circulated for a while now that Steve Sarkisian had tried to grab Lupoi for UW's staff.
The Seattle Times reports Lupoi said no on several occasions.
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports the 30-year-old Lupoi has been "universally called one of the best recruiters in the Pac-12, if not the nation."
This is a huge get for the Dawgs in my opinion.
Way to go Steve Sarkisian.
It's been a heck of a month for Sark hiring coaches to fill the vacant spots with the club."Coach Lupoi is a terrific young coach and a dynamic recruiter," UW coach Steve Sarkisian said in a statement. "He will have an immediate impact with our team both on the field and in recruiting."
UW as already hired Justin Wilcox from Tennessee as its new defensive coordinator, Peter Sirmon from Tennessee as linebackers coach and Keith Heyward from Oregon State as defensive backs coach.
Johnny Nansen the last man standing on D will shift to concentrating on special teams and recruiting coordinator duties.
Washington now has one assistant spot left to fill — offensive coordinator.
