College Basketball Betting – Huskies Aim To Move On In The NIT Against Golden Gophers
Between NBA scores and March Madness, it’s easy for hoops fans to forget about the NIT at Madison Square Garden, but the semifinals will tip off next Tuesday in New York when Minnesota takes on a Washington team that avenged the loss that probably kept them out of the NCAA Tournament in the last round.
Minnesota Washington Odds – Tuesday, 9:00 PM ET
The Golden Gophers went on the road and outscored Middle Tennessee State by 10 in the second half of a 78-72 win over in the quarterfinals, and a Bodog review (which you can find here) of the game may point towards Minnesota’s reliance on Rodney Williams and Andre Hollins, who had 24 points apiece. However, you do what you have to do to win games at this point of the season and it’s good to know that the Golden Gophers have players they can depend on when it gets tough, especially when you consider their poor ending to the Big Ten schedule. Those who purchase pay head services may not have thought much about a team that lost seven of their last nine down the stretch, but the postseason is a different story.
The Huskies were blown out by Oregon in February, and many players that are betting March Madness think that loss kept Washington out of the Tournament despite winning the Pac-12 regular-season title. Washington avenged that loss and took the rubber match between the two as they came away with a 90-86 victory as Terrence Ross dropped 24 points, while Tony Wroten was next with 22 points for the Huskies, who were 27-of-35 from the foul line while Oregon was 17-of-22 in what was a truly entertaining game. Washington is the top seed in the NIT, but they wanted this game badly, possibly more than a chance to play for the title and it showed.
Washington should be the favorites in New York against the Golden Gophers in the first meeting between the two programs, and the Golden Gophers have to slow down a Washington offense that can put up points with anyone in the country. Minnesota isn’t going to win many shootouts, so they need to slow down the tempo of the game and we’re not sure they can do that. Between Ross and Wroten, the Huskies have players who can get to the hoop when they want and that’s going to put pressure on the Golden Gophers, who won’t be able to keep up with the Huskies for a full 40 minutes. When making your sports betting picks next Tuesday, be sure to take Washington to cover at your favorite betting websites.
