Though it may seem anticlimactic, the New York Giants will look to follow up last weekend’s victory over the reigning Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers with a victory over the upstart San Francisco 49ers in the NFC title game.

Though the 49ers surprised fans with how well they started the 2011-12 campaign, the novelty has started to wane as the franchise continues to impress deep into the postseason. Novel or not, the 49ers are legitimate contenders on the football futures list.

According to Bovada’s NFL odds makers, the 49ers have 3/1 odds of winning the Super Bowl. To get there, of course, they would first have to handle Eli Manning and the Giants before taking on whomever comes out atop the AFC.

Is it too much to ask for Jim Harbaugh in his first year with his new club? If San Francisco’s 13-3 regular season campaign isn’t enough to convince you, then maybe their Division Championship victory over the run and gun New Orleans Saints is.

Does a victory over Drew Brees and co. trump a similar one over Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? The Giants certainly hope not.

After sneaking into the postseason in a tricky NFC East, New York will be looking for any possibility to extend their postseason run.

Can they find their loophole back into the Super Bowl for the first time since 2007?

That’s where you come in. What do you think? Who wins this one?
