NHL Betting Preview: Underdog Leafs Host Wings in Original Six Clash
Two of the NHL’s most celebrated franchises will square off in a Hockey Night in Canada matchup this Saturday as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the Detroit Red Wings on Bovada’s NHL betting line.
Though the season started strong for the hometown Leafs, the Buds have since slipped back down to the level of mediocrity they’ve grown accustomed to in recent memory. If this is to be the year they return to the postseason they’ll have to turn their campaign around fast.
According to Bovada’s hockey odds makers, the Maple Leafs have 30/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. In contrast to Toronto and its constant struggle, the Red Wings carry 13/1 odds on the NHL futures list.
Can Detroit take the opportunity to steal two points from an Original Six rivalry when the puck gets dropped? Currently in the upper half of the Western Conference playoff picture the Wings are as much a factor in the Central Division as ever.
With the one-two combination of Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul proving insufficient recently, Toronto will need to find a way to start turning point-production into victories. Does that start this weekend?
