The Cleveland Browns are unlikely to use the franchise tag on running back Peyton Hillis, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns will reportedly try to re-sign him before he hits the open market on Mar. 13 at 4 p.m.

Cabot speculates that the Browns may use their franchise designation on kicker Phil Dawson.

Hillis is coming off a disappointing season where he rushed for 587 yards and three touchdowns.
