RIP Gary Carter
As a kid I grew up a little bit of a Montreal Expos fan. My ole man didn't want me to cheer for the Mariners, since his team were the Expos, so I kind of watched them out of the corner of my eye.
ONe of my favorites besides Andre Dawson, Tim Wallach, and Tim Raines was Gary Carter.
The star catcher, whose single for the New York Mets in the 1986 World Series touched off one of the most improbable rallies in baseball, died Thursday. He was 57.
Carter was an 11-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner. His bottom-of-the-10th single in Game 6 of the 1986 Series helped the Mets mount a charge against the Boston Red Sox and eventually beat them.
Desharnias wearing 8 for the Habs during the pre-game Sunday was a nice touch.
There is no way I spelt his name right.
