    Team coming to Seattle?

First of all, we're excited about the news of Chris Hansen and his ownership group looking to build a multi-purpose arena in Seattle that could lure NBA and NHL teams to Seattle.

For starters, it sounds like the Phoenix Coyotes are the front runner to land in Seattle on the NHL front.

But the NBA situation is odd. There will be no new teams entering the league any time soon. The Kings, Hornets and Grizzlies have been brought up as possible candidates to move to Seattle.

My question is...how do you feel about Seattle pulling off a deal similar to what Oklahoma City and this horrible man Clay Bennett pulled to steal our team?

    I see it this way...
Seattle did not have a chance to make the proper efforts to save this team. Clay Bennett bought the Sonics with the thought process that no matter what, he was taking them home to OKC. Sacramento, however, has had a few years to keep their team. Even after the threat of moving them to Anaheim, they still did not vote a new arena for the team.

Now that Seattle is priming themselves to get the Kings, they want to go get the parking situation (a big reason the team wants to move) squared away? That's just ridiculous.

Do I want to be the next OKC? Hell no. But if no new teams are going to be admitted into the league, then I want Seattle to land a team that cannot be afforded by it's current home city.

UW's Romar says bring back the SonICS! Good enough for me!

"That would be awesome if that happens," Romar said. "Our guys would love it. I think the city would love it.

"I always felt like that was temporary when the Sonics were gone. I always felt this town supports the NBA too much and loves basketball too much."

Yeah, it's a dicey situation. They may have to do something like Winnipeg did in the NHL and patiently wait for a team to come up for sale. It's hard to fault Winnipeg for what they did, they just stood in the background until an opportunity came. Of course, waiting sucks.

The Kings are on the clock right now and the Maloofs would have to specifically name Seattle as a home if they choose to file relocation papers. The Hornets are owned by the NBA because the team was going under. If they can't find an ownership group in New Orleans, I can see them moving this way. Also have heard the Memphis Grizzlies for basically the same reason, but still has legit owners.

NHL it seems the only option is the Coyotes and from the sounds of it, they are basically planning to be in here next year. I'll have to find more about what I heard before I make that concrete.

And yeah, waiting sucks. Especially when it's going to take a while to build this thing.

The Grizzlies moving to Seattle would be really, really funny so I'm all for it.

And yeah the Coyotes would have to be going to Seattle unless Quebec City steps up and soon. It just makes too much sense really. Seattle would be a perfect hockey market and they finally have (or have plans to have) an arena suitable for hockey.

Either way, I'm just really happy for Seattle. They're a great sports town and deserve so much better and of course I'm all for more pro sports teams within road trip distance.
