First of all, we're excited about the news of Chris Hansen and his ownership group looking to build a multi-purpose arena in Seattle that could lure NBA and NHL teams to Seattle.
For starters, it sounds like the Phoenix Coyotes are the front runner to land in Seattle on the NHL front.
But the NBA situation is odd. There will be no new teams entering the league any time soon. The Kings, Hornets and Grizzlies have been brought up as possible candidates to move to Seattle.
My question is...how do you feel about Seattle pulling off a deal similar to what Oklahoma City and this horrible man Clay Bennett pulled to steal our team?
I see it this way...
Seattle did not have a chance to make the proper efforts to save this team. Clay Bennett bought the Sonics with the thought process that no matter what, he was taking them home to OKC. Sacramento, however, has had a few years to keep their team. Even after the threat of moving them to Anaheim, they still did not vote a new arena for the team.
Now that Seattle is priming themselves to get the Kings, they want to go get the parking situation (a big reason the team wants to move) squared away? That's just ridiculous.
Do I want to be the next OKC? Hell no. But if no new teams are going to be admitted into the league, then I want Seattle to land a team that cannot be afforded by it's current home city.
