Word out of Seattle Seahawks land this week tells us that 2011 first round draft choice the 25th pick overall, James Carpenter out of Alabama who finished the 2011/12 season on the IR has turned the injury corner.
Carpenter's rehab from season-ending knee injury is going well by all reports.
Still the Seahawks are saying There's no timetable for when he'll be able to come back to practice.
John Schneider in Indianapolis this week for the 2012 NFL combine said
Carpenter started nine games as a rookie. My Big question is this though. Where do the Seahawks envision him playing in 2012? Carpenter opened the 2011 season at right guard before moving back to right tackle for the remainder of his season."He's doing better, James had a very nasty, a real nasty injury. He's got a long road ahead of him, but he kind of got over that hump where he kind of got off the crutches and was able to get around on his own a little bit."
Carpenter's replacement at right tackle, Breno Giacomini, recently signed a two-year, $7 million contract extension and his performance late last season could move Carpenter to guard.
The Tacoma news tribune had this to say about Carpenter on their blog."He played real well," Schneider said of Giacomini.
"Carpenter struggled in pass protection as a rookie, but he has the size and demeanor to fit in as a road-grader at guard."
Time will tell.
