Can't Sign Him - Tag Him? Seattle on Marshawn Lynch
The Seattle Seahawks are not planning on letting running back Marshawn Lynch get away.
In Indianapolis this week for the NFL Combine Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said the team would use the franchise tag on Lynch if the sides are unable to hammer out a long-term contract extension.
Quote:
"We've had great discussions since two or three weeks left in the season," Schneider said. "There's no animosity at all. It's good dialogue."
The 25-year-old had the best season of his career, rushing for more than 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns.
After failing to rush for more than 100 yards in any of the first seven games, Lynch hit the plateau six times over the final nine weeks.
It was the third 1,000-yard season of his career, but the first since his second season with Buffalo in 2008.
All I can say is AMEN to this news. We have to have this guy back in the fold in 2012. He's a MASSIVE part of Pete Carroll's plan, he loves playing on the west coast, and it would be a shame to see him leave via Free Agency.
