What a difference a year makes!

Last year, us Seahawk fans were just finishing up watching a prime time showdown against our rivals the St. Louis Rams, on the way to a division title, and an upcoming playoff game against the defending champion Saints. What a turn of events indeed, for us beleaguered fans, this year turned out to be. 7-9, once again, but this time around, a third place finish. We all remember "Touchdown Jesus," or "Clipboard Jesus," or my personal favorite, "Soon to be Unemployed Backup" leading us to the promised land after our personal lord and savior Matt Hasselbeck wasn't able to go. And like most of you, I was thinking that this was it, our chance at glory was over. But Whitehurst led our lackluster offense to the win, to set up the "upset" win against the champs. We all remember it fondly, the team that wasn't supposed to do anything at all, the team with the losing record, the champions of the worst division in all of pro sports, took out the reigning Super Bowl champs. They way they got in, and then the way they took out the Saints reminded me of the wild ride back in 2005 with the M's and the "Refuse to Lose" campaign. That glory carried over into this season for me. I was all gung-ho for Whitehurst to take over for Matt, and lead us to another division championship, and then along came T-Jack. I wasn't then, and I am still not now, a fan of Jackson. I was writing tweets to Coach Carroll weekly pleading for a chance for Charlie to start. What a fool I was. After two consecutive years of the Hawks first passing up on McCoy, and then this past draft, not trading up for Locker, we deserved a decent starting QB. What we were left with was a combination of cast-offs from the rest of the league. This years draft class is ripe with talent at the QB position, but once again we probably will balk at a QB. The mantra for all of us Seattle fans is "there's always next year." I have been saying this for as long as I can remember. And it seems whenever any of our teams are actually knocking on the door to something great, something, or someone always come crashing down on our hopes and dreams. First was the University of Colorado earning the share of a co-national championship with the Huskies. Then Michael Jordon ruins the Supes chance at a title in '96. Then of course there were the Yankees in '01 after our record setting season, and still fresh on the minds of Seahawk fans everywhere, the Steelers (or referees) in Super Bowl XL. So when will this proverbial "next year" actually come for us? Hopefully soon. I'm tired of waiting!

I agree Clint. Seattle has been just absolutely tortured in this realm and they need a title of some sort (besides WNBA, please) to bring some serious life back into the city. We love our teams, but it's love/hate. Who knows, maybe it will attract some big names
