Bruce Irvin has been suspended four games Seattle Seahawks DE Bruce Irvin has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance enhancing substances.
Per Adam Caplan of NFL.com here's the statement.
"Bruce Irvin of the Seattle Seahawks has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2013 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.
Irvin will be eligible to return to the Seahawks' active roster on Monday, September 30 following the team's September 29 game against the Houston Texans.
Irvin is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games."
IN 2012 Irvin played in 16 games as a rookie. He collected 16 total tackles and 8 sacks, forcing 1 fumble as well.
Irvin the 6'3" 248lb 26 year old DE/LEO from West Virginia was expected to be a MAJOR contributor on the Hawks D-line to start the season in 2013.
He'll now miss four huge matchups for the Seahawks. Away vs. the Panthers, at home to the 49ers on Sunday night football, home to the Jaguars, and away versus the Texans. He'll return in week 5 vs. Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.
According to Dave "Softy" Mahler of sportsradiokjr, the violation was for use of Adderall per two league sources. Irvin is not appealling the decision.
