Kam Chancellor reportedly signs 4-year contract extension
Ian Rapoport just tweeted "The Seahawks have a press conference scheduled. Will be a four-year extension for Kam Chancellor, I'm told. He's under contract for the next 5 years."
Kam Chancellor must be a happy man. I'm guessing he is, since he just tweeted, "It's a GREAT Day today."
The new deal is a four-year extension believed to total $28 million with $17 million guaranteed.
710 ESPN radio host Danny O'Neil also confirmed the news via twitter. John Clayton of 710 recently tweeted "The Seahawks wanted to get a Chancellor deal done no later than Thursday. They've been talking numbers close to $7 million for weeks."
Chancellor is a 6'3" 232lb imposing strong safety from Norfolk, Virginia. He was chose 133rd overall in the 5th round of the 2010 NFL draft. In 2012 he had 73 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 FF, and played in all 16 games.
This is great news for the Seahawks and the cap situation. Chancellor just turned 25 and will be 31 when the deal expires, so he'll have a real opportunity to be a Seahawk for a while.
