OTAs Have Been An Interesting Time In Seattle
Northwest Sports Update
Most 5dimes.com reviews probably won’t go too in-depth when it comes to reporting on OTAs, but in Seattle, there have been a few surprises during this time, including a quarterback battle that is ramping up and a violation.
Many sharps that are working with a pay per head service have Matt Flynn penciled in as the starter under center for the Seahawks, especially after he received a big-money deal in the offseason. However, Tarvaris Jackson has reportedly looked as good or better than Flynn at times during OTAs and there isn’t a lot between the two. This could be down to Jackson’s familiarity with the system and his teammates while Flynn is just arriving on the scene, but Jackson has shown flashes of being a decent NFL starting quarterback in his career; it is just a matter of consistency with him. Still, you would have to think that Flynn will get the nod after signing with the Seahawks, but it isn’t a good sign early on that Jackson is still in the running for the starter’s role. And where does that leave rookie Russell Wilson? The quarterback position is going to be an interesting spot to watch throughout the summer.
The Seahawks have also been without defensive end Chris Clemons, who isn’t at OTAs because he wants a new deal. Clemons is a huge part of the Seahawks’ online sports betting odds going forward as he has racked up 22 sacks in the last two seasons, but at 31 years old, his window of opportunity is closing and he would like one more big deal before he gets too old. However, the Seahawks have rookie Bruce Irvin to come off the edge now, so Seattle may be able to play hardball with Clemons, depending on how Irvin comes along.
In other news that should be noted by online betting USA players, the Seahawks had to do away with a few practices as they held a few contact activities when the OTAs are supposed to be non-contact. There have been no fines levied or suspensions handed out, but the Seahawks had to forfeit practices, which shouldn’t bother the players too much. This has been happening in the league for a long time, but with “Spygate” and “Bountygate” in recent seasons, there are eyes everywhere and commissioner Roger Goodell is making sure that the rules are followed to the letter of the law by everyone from coaches to players. Losing a couple practices shouldn’t make a huge difference and in fact, the chance for injury is minimized going into the summer. If the Seahawks suffer any major injuries, that would be it for their sport betting online odds before the season starts.
