Seahawks Chris Clemons M.I.A. at mandatory OTA
As if it wasnt bad enough having a drinking game named after you (By NWSB), and then having your replacement selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL entry draft (Bruce Irvin) now we're hearing that Seattle Seahawks starting defensive end Chris Clemons was absent from the team's mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, a development that surprised coach Pete Carroll.
Quote:
"In communications with Chris, I thought he was coming, so this is kind of a late development that he's not," Carroll told the Everett (Wash.) Herald.
"So I'm a little bit surprised that he's not here. We've had open communications with the agent and with Chris, and we feel like everything is on the up and up and very amicable.
It continues to be one of our priorities and we'd love to get him back, but it doesn't look like he's going to show up for the rest of camp."
Carroll was under the impression that Clemons would participate in minicamp after missing the part of the voluntary offseason workouts, but that changed recently.
It's widely known that Clemons led the team in sacks each of the past two seasons, but he is entering the final year of a contract that will pay him $4 million.
He's going thru a divorce, he's seeing what other DE's around the league are getting paid via FA, and he wants his cake.
Apparently Clemons is unhappy with his current contract.
