Seattle Head coach Pete Carroll second highest paid NFL coach

We learned this week from ESPN NFC West writer Mike Sando that Pete Carroll the Head coach of the Seattle Seahawks is the 2nd highest paid head coach in the NFL.

The Forbes' list of 10 highest-paid coaches came out this week.

    Bill Belichick - Patriots - $7.5M
    Pete Carroll - Seahawks - $7.0M
    Jeff Fisher - Rams - $7.0M
    Mike Shanahan - Redskins - $7.0M
    Doc Rivers - Celtics - $7.0M
    Lovie Smith - Bears - $6.0M
    Gregg Popovich - Spurs - $6.0M
    Ken Whisenhunt - Cardinals - $5.8M
    Mike Tomlin - Steelers - $5.8M
    Andy Reid - Eagles - $5.5M
Sando reports coaches presumably do not make available their contracts or tax returns, so these listings qualify as unofficial.

They are generally consistent with media reports, at least.

According to information compiled by USA Today, the average college football coach at a public university made $2.1 million in 2011.

No Major League Baseball or National Hockey League coach made the list.

    7 million reasons to smile.
