The NFL Draft was today in New York City's Radio City Music Hall.
Pete Carroll and John Schneider are in Seattle Washington at the VMAC Seahawks facility.
They traded their #12 pick to the Eagles for the #15 pick in 2012 NFL Draft, and then watched as Dontari Poe, Fletcher Cox, and Michael Floyd, and Michael Brockers all came off the board.
Then at #15 the Seattle Seahawks selected West Virginia LB Bruce Irvin.
Per John Gruden.
He's not a Run-defender. He's the guy who will come in as a speed rusher, and he's got RARE speed to rush. He's going to be a pass rushing specialist ONLY. When you watch West Virginia at closing time, IRvin is the closing guy.
Per Mel Kiper
Seattle needed a Defensive end. But I'm not sure about this one. Although with what I just found out I'm a little happier. This pick is "SHOCKING". Production dropped as a senior. Irvin thought he'd be a 2nd round pick. He didn't expect to be a 1st round pick. The fact that he's a first round pick is quite honestly mind-boggling."
Per a league source, at least 7 teams had Irvin rated as one of the top 15 players available in the draft. #Seahawks
