Per the Seahawks website, Veteran cornerback Marcus Trufant has agreed to terms on a one-year contact to remain with the Seahawks for 2012 season.
As recently as March 16th it was reported Trufant, a nine-year starter for the Seahawks, was given a physical and met with the defensive coaching staff. Now this great news for fans and players on the current roster that just love what Tru brings to the clubhouse.
Trufant, a first-round draft choice in 2003, had been*released March 8.
In his first nine seasons, Trufant started 123 games and in 2004 he became the only cornerback in franchise history - and fourth in league history - to lead his*team in tackles.
A back problem forced him to miss six games in 2009 and 12 games last season.
He's one of my all time favorite Seahawks and the only current player on the roster who participated in Super Bowl XL versus the Steelers.
Fans of marcuse Trufant will know we have our special Trufant top 5 memories in Seattle blog post here.
Looks like we can possibly add to it now.
Maybe next year Pete Carroll can come out and say Marcus Trufant has been a great player in this organization for years, and we're so grateful for his class & commitment to this community again...
