It has been confirmed by ESPN, Pro Football Talk, Jason Lacanfora of the NFL network and more.
Alex Smith is in South Beach today talking with the Miami Dolphins. He's due to fly north to Seattle next to speak with John Schneider and Pete Carroll and the Seahawks.
Interesting times.
At first we had to know Smith visiting the Miami Dolphins would get get the San Francisco 49ers attention.
It looks like the cat and mouse QB game is really on now.
All this while waiting to see what happens to Matt Flynn. Does he choose the Dolphins or the Seahawks? Is a third team going to jump into the puzzle for him? Namely the 49ers?
Mike Sando from the NFC West ESPN blog says...
Smith is looking less and less likely to return regardless of whether or not the 49ers get Peyton Manning. Which I don't think they will anyways?!"The Seahawks had interest in Smith before Smith jumped into Jim Harbaugh's waiting arms last offseason. They have an opening at quarterback after making no effort to re-sign Charlie Whitehurst. Scot McCloughan, one of the men primarily responsible for drafting Smith in San Francisco, now works as senior personnel executive in Seattle.
Alex Smith....COME ON DOWN!
