Charlie Whitehurst is officially gone, signing a 2 year deal with the San Diego Chargers worth $4 million, including a $1 signing bonus.
This ends the Charlie Whitehurst in Seattle as Pete Carroll and John Schneider made him their first transaction, swapping second rounders with San Diego in 2009.
Whitehurst was the #2 guy behind Philip Rivers when the Chargers traded to get Billy Volek from Tennessee to take his place.
That made him expendable and they pulled off a draft day swindling of Seattle.
It was announced earlier he will be joining Seahawks team mate Atari Bigby in the Sunshine State.
Also today out of Chargers PR land, they announced Volek's release, which suggests Whitehurst went back to SD for No. 2 role, not third-string role.
PER Mike Sando of ESPN NFC WEST Blog. Charlie Whitehurst's perception did not match reality.
