Left-handed pitcher Oliver Perez, who won 15 games for the New York Mets in 2007, signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Wednesday.
Perez, 30, was invited to major-league spring training.
This past offseason, Perez pitched in relief for the Tomateros de Culiacan in the Mexican Winter League.
In 23 games, he was 0-2 with a 0.63 ERA, striking out 19 in 14-1/3 innings.
For his career, Perez is 58-69 with a 4.63 ERA for the Padres, Pirates and Mets.
Hey Seattle guess what. We've got another pitcher! And this one pitched for the Tomatoes last year! Great!
