Seattle DH Edgar Martinez improves to 36.5 percent in Hall of Fame voting 2012
Congrats to Larkin for getting into the HOF. Too bad it came at the expense of Edgar.
Former Mariners DH Edgar Martinez received 36.5 percent of the vote in Monday’s National Baseball Hall of Fame balloting, a step forward from 2011 voting but still shy of the 75 percent needed for election.
Quote:
A candidate must receive votes from three-quarters of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America voters to gain election
Martinez will be back on the ballot in 2013 for his 4th chance at Cooperstown.
Edgar played his entire 18-years with the Mariners and made 7 All-Star teams, won 5 Silver Slugger Awards and 2 American League batting championships.
We hope 2013 is his year! Good Luck Edgar.
