    George Sherrill 1 Year Contract

The Seattle Mariners have reportedly signed left-handed reliever George Sherrill to a one-year contract. The deal is going to go down (pending a physical) to bring him back to the team.

Yes the same George Sherrill, the one from the Bedard trade to Baltimore a few years ago.

In 2007, Sherrill appeared in 73 games for the Mariners, pitching 45 2/3 innings.

He finished with an ERA of just 2.36 and a WHIP of just 0.99 for the season.

Last year Sherrill pitched for the Braves.

36 innings in 51 games and an ERA of 3.00.

Last reports say (Saturday) the deal was for $1.1 million guaranteed, but Sherrill had yet to leave for Seattle for his physical and final details of the contract were still being settled.

I think its is a solid signing to bolster the BP. Veteran lefty relievers are always good to have. People are just frustrated because they don't see a person like Prince being signed, and that puts a damper on this signing.

I like it. The contract may jump up to about 2 mil if the incentives kick in, but I'd take that for a veteran lefty for a year. If they're out of it by mid-summer, he can be traded for pine tar and somebody else can pay the bonus at end-of-year.
