Maybe they are working on a cloning project partnered with Microsoft to keep ichiro forever, hopefully he wouldn't have any fatal errors like the windows 7 phone always seems to have. I guess my point is that it is really hard to see what the long term is for the Mariners right now.
Dustin Achley ,,, mike carp ???????? lead offf hard to say.
oh and in the article they mention Chone Figgins as a possible lead-off. Are the M's even going to keep Chone???
I'm sorry Figgy but this years slump was epic, it's hard not to replace him with Carp at the hot corner.
I think they still believe in figgins... Why? Not sure, probably because they have a lot of money tied into him. He actually looked great in spring training, but then that didn't translate into into anything productive the rest of the year. Check out mynpost on some options for figgins, like bat boy. Carp is a power hitter and Ackley is more of an RBI guy. Carp isn't really an option at 3rd. 1st or left field. Look for Seeger or Liddi at third.
seeger did a great job at 3rd. I don't think the M's have any mind for lead-off. More reason to believe Ichiro is not going anywhere.
What is the $$ deal $$ with Figgins ? did they do a multiple year contract ????
4 years - 36 mil. we're halfway through. we had a chance to trade him at the end of last season and we didn't take it. sigh.
chone figgy is a great 3rd baseman and most guys like him dont slump for too long.
His defense has never been spectacular, but with the angels he made up for it with his strong offensive production. Now... Nothing is working.
The issue I was seeing was that he didn't look like he was trying, he was lollygagging around. I don't know like he just had no drive to play or get out of his slump. I didn't see any noticeable adjustments in his stance, set-up, or what have you. It reminds me of Brett Boone's epic slump that totally turned mental and basicly ended his career, sad to see any player go through that.
