excluding the classic 90s Mariners that I all love equally, gotta go with Ichiro.

dude is the complete player and a machine. apparently, he hits homeruns after homeruns in practice just for fun.

    also he's crazy.

Piece by piece, the legend started to reveal itself.

“How do you know about that?” Michael Young asked.

A whisper here. A story there. Something about the greatest pregame speech since Rockne invoked the Gipper, one laced with profanity and delivered to the American League All-Stars every year.

“It’s why we win,” David Ortiz said.

He pointed to Ichiro Suzuki, the Seattle Mariners’ wisp of an outfielder, a man who still uses a translator to do interviews with English-speaking reporters – and happens to be baseball’s amalgam of Anthony Robbins and George Carlin. Every year, after the AL manager addresses his team, Ichiro bursts from his locker, a bundle of kinetic energy, and proceeds, in English, to disparage the National League with an H-bomb of F-bombs, stunning first-timers who had no idea Ichiro speaks the queen’s language fluently and making returnees happy that they had played well enough to see the pep talk again.

The tradition began in 2001, Ichiro’s first All-Star appearance, and the AL hasn’t lost a game since. Coincidence?

    Um. No.

    love these quotes

"Chicks who dig home runs aren't the ones who appeal to me. I think there's sexiness in infield hits because they require technique. I'd rather impress the chicks with my technique than with my brute strength. Then, every now and then, just to show I can do that, too, I might flirt a little by hitting one out."
"To tell the truth, I'm not excited to go to Cleveland, but we have to," Ichiro said. "If I ever saw myself saying I'm excited going to Cleveland, I'd punch myself in the face, because I'm lying."
"Tiger is a great golfer, but … when you say athlete, I think of Carl Lewis. When you talk about [golfers or race-car drivers], I don't want to see them run. It's the same if you were to meet a beautiful girl and go bowling. If she's an ugly bowler, you are going to be disappointed."

Have to go with Dan "The Man" Wilson.

Dan was an all around good baseball player and from all accounts an excellent teammate. Just a couple of interesting stats: In 2001, Wilson committed only one error in 122 games, for a .9987 fielding percentage, the fourth highest season average in major league history. He ended his career with a .995 fielding percentage; sixth highest for a catcher in major league history.

Dan was one of those players who played the game because he loved Baseball...a genuine love for the game!

I've always been partial to Mr. Mariner himself Alvin Davis who was rookie of the year in 1984 I believe. He was quickly overshadowed by Ken Griffey Jr. Whom I also loved to see in a Seattle uniform, but Davis deserves respect for his role with Seattle.

I generally like guys that commit to the team instead of just the paycheck. Dan Wilson, Dave Valle, Jay Buhner and Griffey Jr. Have all shown that Seattle is their team.

So basically the whole 95 team huh? Yeah I have special attachments to those guys too. I wonder if we will have these kind of memories toward any of new kids like ackley in years to come.
