In light of the hip injury suffered by the Seattle Mariners Mike Carp we've learned today via Twitter from M's Seattle Times beat writer Geoff Baker that the team has recalled 1b Justin Smoak from the AAA farmclub Tacoma Rainiers.

He flew out of Nashville this morning, expected to be here in time to play tonight.
