Mike Zunino, the Seattle Mariners 22-year-old catcher from the University of Florida who was the M's first-round draft pick, signed with the club Monday.
Zunino recently won the Johnny Bench Award as the best college catcher, plus he was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award.
This is the award given to the best college baseball player.
The deal included a reported $4 million bonus.
Per the Seattle Times, Zunino's bonus, first reported by Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, is $1.2 million lower than the recommended slot for a No. 3 overall pick.
