It's been a ride for Seattle Mariners outfielder Casper Wells since his trade for Doug Fister in 2011 from the Tigers.
We all know he hasn’t seen the field that much in 2012 (19 at bats in 16 appearances).
What you maybe didn't know however is that Wells is from Schenectady, New York. In game 3 versus the Yankees on Sunday (Mothers Day) the skipper Eric Wedge game Casper the chance to start against the Yankees, and boy did Wells make the most of it.
Playing in front of friends and family Wells smacked a 2-run homer for his mother Daiva.
Not to shabby. Oh the kicker. He hit it off childhood idol Andy Pettitte.
Prior to the big Sunday game for Wells he said post game he had a conversation with his Mom.
Nice Mothers Day Present Casper. Well done.“My Mom called me and she said, ‘Just hit a homer for me!’…Oh yeah, easy request. Easy thing to do, hit a homer at Yankee Stadium!”
