We've learned today that this week with the opening game of the MLB season starting that Jason Vargas will pitch first followed by Felix Hernandez in game two.

Manager Eric Wedge added, "These guys are still working their way back, but it's nice to see them break out the way they did. I think everyone is still a little bit fuzzy.
King Felix also will start the home opener April 13.

Eric Wedge stated the team opted to flip-flop the two starting arms in order to for Hernandez to get one Cactus League tuneup before the season resumes.

"It kind of presents our best option of keeping them both as sharp as possible without the ability to have them both pitch in a game," Mariners pitching coach Carl Willis said of the Vargas-Hernandez switch.
