signing fielder wouldnt be a mistake. He would increase offensive production and put more people in the seats at safeco. The mistake would be paying too much money for him.
It may be easier to list who wasn't in a slump.
I think that is a lot of money. Do you think Prince will make a better transition to the American league than say, Adrian Beltre?
I think that the official patch is going to have the number 35 indicating years instead of days. The bottom banner will then have 1977 on the left and 2012 on the right. It could have been more...
You don't think prince would move to a full time dh role? I thought that was the reason he was considering the move to the American league.
It would be an interesting option to explore. The mariners could use some of those player coach roles with all the young guys around. That's for sure
Hence the dilemma, however it is good to see that the management has focused on stocking the farm system so that there can be more home grown heros so to speak. Though safeco looked awfully empty...
His defense has never been spectacular, but with the angels he made up for it with his strong offensive production. Now... Nothing is working.
He is a solid player but I'm not surprised that they didn't want to shell out huge cash on a utility guy. I bet he has a job in 2012 though
Ha. So true. The whole of the MLB really marketed Griffey. I have met people that know nothing about baseball who love ken Griffey jr.
the superstars help with ticket sale though right? This is why some people think baseball should go back to the steroid era. that isn't appreciating the sport though is it?
4 years - 36 mil. we're halfway through. we had a chance to trade him at the end of last season and we didn't take it. sigh.
I heard once that Pete Rose was convinced he would never make it to the hall of fame, his team mates said he was crazy - of course he would, frustrated he turned to them and said, wanna put some...
Ah Seager... that makes way more sense. Thanks for Clarifying. What would be great if the Mariners had a few more Ken Griffey Jr's and A-Rod's that will stick around for the long term. that seems...
Show the love to the boz. I was young when he played and don't really remember anything more than his hair and his attitude. The hawks could use another marketable guy like that.
He spent the year in recovery from surgery and doing some broadcasting. I wonder how much value he will hold after all that is said and done. Tut to say if it is a worthwhile investment.
One bad year that was better than the majority of their players, plus the emotional attachment. Yeah they will sign him for at least one more year.
I think they still believe in figgins... Why? Not sure, probably because they have a lot of money tied into him. He actually looked great in spring training, but then that didn't translate into into...
So basically the whole 95 team huh? Yeah I have special attachments to those guys too. I wonder if we will have these kind of memories toward any of new kids like ackley in years to come.
Oops I forgot Mark Lowe. Remembered after the game last night when he gave up that last home run against the cardinals. Maybe that wasn't a good example of how they are getting better after leaving...
Jr. Was a special consultant this year focusing more on the development of minor league players, which may have better long term effects. I think Griffey wants to spend time with his family before he...
Honestly im not sure where the thought of carp at third is coming from. The guy has played only 12 games there in the minors and out of his nine attempts he made three errors. Not looking great
I think that the mariners are more likely to use the DH position to rest and rotate their starters and bench players than to go for a bat. I mean I pope I'm wrong on that, but it seems the likely...
So the Mariners released that they have hired back the entire coaching staff for 2012. I don't know about you, but I think I may have gone for a different hitting coach. With Mark McGuire sitting...
