Nate McMillan Fired as head coach of Portland Trail Blazers
In a day of wild moves by the Portland Trail Blazers, they made another, this time in the coaching ranks.
As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) the Blazers have parted ways with head coach Nate McMillan.
McMillan has been with the team since 2005 after being lured away from the Seattle SuperSonics to lead the Blazers. Portland has promoted assistant Kaleb Canales to interim head coach, league source tells Y! Sports.
Canales was a video guy in Portland from 2005-2009 before being promoted to assistant coach. He's 34 now.
There is no way to hide the love the NWSB has shown for Coach Nate thru the months since we've gone online.

Northwest Coach Profiles: Nate McMillan
Portland Trail Blazers Nate McMillan’s popularity wilts in the rain
Just a couple of the pieces we've done on him.
But this is truly shocking events in the Pacific northwest. Portland fans are hopeless romantics when it comes to their Blazers, and the innocence is cute in a way. I'm at a loss. It's too bad Nate didn't get to keep going with the moves the team made today. In my opinion their record reflects exactly what they are: an average team.
Right off the bat some names come to mind.
Phil Jackson is a front-runner who would not consider coming to Portland.
Jeff Van Gundy?
His last coaching stop would have been a disaster if management didn’t can him.
