Cunningham to go pro. Enters NBA draft
Oregon State men’s basketball junior guard Jared Cunningham has decided to forgo his senior season and turn professional.
The first-team all-Pac-12 selection said he would be declaring for the NBA draft and consider the possibility of hiring an agent at a packed Gill Coliseum press conference on Monday.
Cunningham’s decision leaves a huge hole for the Beavers to fill, but it also opens up a scholarship that can be offered at any point before the beginning of the 2012 fall term at Oregon State.
The 6-foot-4 Cunningham, out of San Leandro High School in Oakland, Calif., closes his OSU career ranked 13th on the career scoring list (1,271 points) and second in steals (219).
He also stands third in free throws made (427) and fifth in free throws attempted (566).

“It came down to what’s the best fit for me and my future,” said Cunningham, who thanked all of the teammates, coaches and athletic department staff who showed up to show their support.
