In three seasons, Kelly has accumulated a 34-6 record and guided Oregon to a trio of conference championships and BCS bowl berths, including a 45-38 win in this year’s Rose Bowl.
It came then as no surprise when this week Oregon football coach Chip Kelly issued a brief statement on Monday to explain his decision to stay with the Ducks and decline an offer to coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Basically it all came down to
Oregon AD Rob Mullens issued his own statement.“I am flattered by the interest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ organization,"Kelly said in the statement, released by the UO athletic media services department. "I enjoyed meeting with the Glazer family and General Manager Mark Dominik but after numerous discussions, I concluded that I have some unfinished business to complete at the University of Oregon.”
