Ducks garner preseason football honors
Ducks Tagged as Candidates for More National Awards
Preseason football honors continue to roll in for a handful of Oregon seniors as offensive guard Carson York was named to the watch list for the Outland Trophy while John Boyett and Dion Jordan were tabbed as players to watch for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.
The Nagurski Trophy is awarded annually to the nation’s best defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte (NC) Touchdown Club, while the Outland Trophy is given to the best interior lineman in college football.
It marks the second such preseason mention garnered by both Boyett and Jordan as they were previously named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award – also given to the top defensive player in the country since 1995.
The Nagurski Trophy recipient is chosen from five finalists who are all part of the FWAA All-America Team.
