Week 3 Fantasy Football Cautionary Starter Injury Advisements
With Eagles QB Mike Vick (concussion), Titans RB Chris Johnson (ribs), Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring), Giants WR Mario Manningham (concussion), and even our very own Sidney Rice (labrum) all dealing with borderline serious injuries, do you risk starting them? If they take 1 solid shot, they could very easily go down again.
I sat Mike Vick in both leagues I have him in, both for Matt Stafford. I figured when I drafted Vick, with his playstyle, he could go down easily during the season. Just didn't think it would be running into his own guy.
Chris Johnson's injury I personally think is Shaun Alexander syndrome, having problems with A.) his vagina or B.) his fat pockets from all the cash he just got with his new deal. I had to leave Johnson in this week as my only viable backup is CJ Spiller who goes against the Patriots. Have to chance that one.
Arian Foster, I could care less if he plays or not. I did not draft him on a single team knowing he was already having hamstring issues. If you have Ben Tate, I suggest starting him, and if you don't, go see if he's available in the Waiver Wire in your league, he'll be worth the pick up. (2 100+yd games to start the season already)
I pulled Manningham because it sounds like he most likely will not play. They try to play off that game time decision BS, but I think he's sitting. So bench him if possible. ***Confirming that Manningham did NOT make the trip this weekend, 100% not playing***
--Additions--
Cowboys QB Tony Romo: played with a cracked rib and a punctured lung. And didn't suck for once. Maybe he'll play through the pain Monday night in order not to choke another one up, but like the others, if he's hurting too much or takes a hard shot, he's done.
Cowboys WR Miles Austin: confirmed to be OUT this weekend so bench him asap.
Browns RB Peyton Hillis: was held out of practice this week with non-injury. Found out today it is strep throat. He will probably still play, but be aware that if it acts up, he may not play or may sit quickly.
And Sidney Rice....what can I say? Love the guy, hope he plays and plays well....BUT he has the same injury John Carlson does and they put Carlson on IR for the season. Be careful with Rice and hope he doesn't mess that labrum up any more than it is. FYI - labrum is basically a shoulder injury
There you go. Non-NW fantasy tips and 1 Seahawk.
