49ERS vs. CARDINALS (MON OCT 29 8:20 PM ET)
The 49ers are coming off a win where they played great D only giving up 7 points and they are now atop the NFC West. The Cardinals are at 4-3 and only 1 game back, but they have lost 3 straight after winning their first 4 games.
In their win over the Seahawks on Monday night the 49ers played their game with Frank Gore rushing for over 130 yards and the defense played great. Alex Smith will be facing a Arizona pass defense that ranks a solid 4th in the league and it is key that he does not make mistakes, as with Gore and the defense he does not have to put up big numbers. Gore may have another big game since the Cardinals’ run defense only ranks 20th in the league.
One reason the 49ers are the away favorite is that they have one of the best defenses in the league and the Cardinals’ offense only ranks 27th in both passing yards per game and rushing yards per game.
John Skelton will get another start under center and has to make some big plays to Larry Fitzgerald, but the 49ers pass defense is the top ranked unit in the nation.
Ryan Williams is the Cardinals leading rusher and he has a grand total of 164 rushing yards this season.
This one is an easy one to call, as I think the 49ers will easily win this game led by their defense.
