Angus Reid Returns For 2012
The BC Lions Football Club announced this afternoon that centre and CFL All-Star Angus Reid will return for the 2012 season.
Born and raised in the Lower Mainland, Reid joined the Lions after being acquired from the Montreal Alouettes in 2001. He originally entered the CFL after being drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in 2001.
“Angus’ contributions to our club both on and off the field have been significant throughout his career and this is very good news for our fans and our offense,” said GM and VP, football operations Wally Buono.
From 2002 to 2009, he enjoyed an eight-season, 142-game run as the Lions’ starting centre before being sidelined by a broken foot.
Angus began the 2010 season as the team’s sixth offensive lineman, but was soon pressed back into a starting role as the club faced a series of injuries up front. Beginning his 11th CFL campaign in 2011, Angus’ outstanding play at the centre position earned him both West Division and CFL All-Star honours.
