Northwest Pac 12 Players invited to 2012 NFL combine

NWSB: 2012 NFL Draft Coverage

There are 11 players from the Pac 12 Northwest schools that have been invited to the NFL combine, sadly though no players from Washington State were invited.

Here are the invitees and my 2012 NFL Draft Predictions on where they may go in the draft.

Seven Oregon Ducks were in invited in 2012.

Mark Asper OL – Asper is a mammoth 6’7″ 325 pound offensive lineman and while he has the size he was a little bit of a surprise for the combine and he may have to make it to the NFL as an undrafted free agent, as there is a good chance he will not get drafted.

Cliff Harris CB – Harris is a bit undersized for a CB, but he is a great kick returner and in 2010 was an All American. Still, he was dismissed from Oregon because of off the field issues and his character is a concern.

Still, he is projected to be a 3rd or 4th round pick.

LaMichael James RB – James led the nation in rushing yards per game and was a Heisman finalist in 2010. This last season he rushed for 1,805 yards with 18 TD, but at 5’9″ 185 pounds he is seen as undersized and he has injury concerns. He is projected to be a late 2nd to early 3rd round pick and I think that low he is a steal.

Joshua Kaddu LB – Kaddu is a 6’3″ 230 LB that had 6.5 sacks this last season and as the combine approaches his draft stock is rising and he is projected to go in the 3rd round.

Pac 12 Football - Ducks, Huskies, Cougars, Beavers

2012 NFL Draft Preview - Pac 12 Players Invited To Indianapolis

David Paulson TE – Paulsen is a 6′ 4″ 241 pound tight end that had 31 catches for 438 yards and 6 TD this season. He was a 2nd team All Pac 12 selection and is projected to be a mid to late round draft pick.

Edward Pleasant SS – Pleasant is a 5’11” 213 pond strong safety that had 1 sack and 61 tackles this past season. He is projected to be a 7th round draft pick and may have to catch on with a team as an undrafted free agent.

Darron Thomas QB– Thomas surprised some by declaring for the draft, as I thought he should have come back for his senior season. He is 6′ 3″ and 215 pounds and this last season he passed for 2,761 yards with 33 TD and 7 INT.

He will be a project and if he gets drafted in will be in the last 2 rounds, but I do not think he will hear his name called on draft day.

Oregon State Beavers

One Oregon State Beavers player was invited in 2012.

James Rodgers WR – Rodgers is a 5′ 7″ 188 pound WR that caught 45 passes for 514 yards and 3 TD this last season. He missed 3 games this season and I would be very surprised if he were drafted, as they are many more WR’s ahead of him that are seen as better picks.

Washington Huskies

Three Washington Huskies were invited in 2012.

Chris Polk RB – Polk is 5’11” and 211 pounds and rushed for 1,488 yards with 12 TD this last season. He is not only a solid rusher, but a good blocking back as well and if he has a good combine he may really move up in the draft where he is projected to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

Jermaine Kearse WR – Kearse is a 6′ 2″ 208 pound WR that had 47 catches for 699 yards and 7 TD this season. He has the size and the hands, but he will likely not get drafted.

Senio Kelemete OG – Kelemete is a 6′ 4″ OG who was a 2nd Team All Pac 12 selection this season. He anchored an offensive line for the Huskies this season that played well both protecting their QB and opening up holes for the rushing attack. He is projected to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
