Before peeking at the NFL schedule for Sunday’s matchups, check out this intriguing matchup in NCAA hoops at a “neutral site” in Seattle, but in reality it’s a home game for Gonzaga, who are located in Spokane.
The Bulldogs host Arizona, who would have been off for a week by the time they tip the game off in Seattle.
The Wildcats (7-3) raced out to a 13-point lead by halftime and cruised to a 63-47 win at home over Clemson, and BetOnline players who were watching the game would point towards Arizona’s defense as the reason as they held the Tigers to 31.7% from the field, although Clemson did heat up after the intermission.
Nick Johnson dropped 14 points, while Solomon Hill added 13 points for the Wildcats, who hit 51% of their field-goal attempts, but they took their foot off the gas and that is something that could drop their status among price per head service users.
Without Derrick Williams in the lineup (he’s currently a Minnesota Timberwolf), the Wildcats have to work much harder to compete and they have to keep it up for 40 minutes if they’re going to rise in the Pac-12.
The Bulldogs (5-2 as of Thursday) still have to play Thursday at home against Oral Roberts, and they would be aiming to halt a two-game skid after a 74-67 loss at home to Michigan State.
Gonzaga struggled to take care of the ball (19 turnovers) and they shot 43.2% from the field, while the Spartans hit 54.2% of their shots.
David Stockton came off the bench to score 19 points for the Bulldogs, who also got 16 points and seven boards from Robert Sacre, and those who use bookie software shouldn’t jump off the Gonzaga bandwagon yet.
They lost on the road at Illinois (a tough place to play) and at home to a Michigan State team that have been hardened by games against Duke and North Carolina.
But to get back on track, they’ll need to defeat the Wildcats.
NCAA basketball betting odds should favor the Bulldogs in what is essentially a home game, and these teams are even in rebounding (143rd in the country), but Gonzaga has the edge in points, assists and field-goal percentage.
Gonzaga’s major worry will be fatigue as they play Thursday night (albeit against a smaller program like Oral Roberts) and the Wildcats will be well rested.
Look to Thursday night’s game to see if the Bulldogs were pressured by Oral Roberts, or if they were able to rest their big players ahead of meeting the Wildcats.
