Slouch’s Weekend Plays: Free “Expert” Football Handicapping Picks

Saturday Morning Slouch

Free Football PickOh do I love football on weekends like this.

We have great college match-ups,  and some could argue even more compelling NFL games.

Even the the local flavor should be exciting.

The Huskies have a monster match-up in Palo Alto against #7 Stanford on national television, and my Washington State Cougars take over the “Clink” against those pesky 1-5 Oregon State Beavers.

Match-ups galore I tell you, but it gets better.

The Seattle Seahawks, yes, those 2-3 Seattle Seahawks are in Cleveland to take on the mighty 2-3 Browns in an epic clash of titans. The suspense is maddening I tell you. I can’t sit still!

This is a handicappers dream weekend.

The match-ups scream easy money, and that’s why I’m here. To help you weed out your uncertainty and put a little confidence in back your betting, and if nothing less, to hear myself talk.

Where to begin though? I know what your thinking, who in their right mind would ever put their money on WSU?

Or for that matter the Seahawks on the road?

The very idea of betting against Andrew Luck at home already has me tears, but this is a prime weekend to strike while the iron is hot. (God I love saying that).

The Slouch’s top-5 games to keep your eyes on..

1. Washington at #7 Stanford – 20 1/2

This is the perfect opportunity to take the Dawgs to cover. The Huskies are averaging 37 points per game, and while Stanford is only giving up 11 points per game, they also have had a very light schedule. Stanford’s first six games were against San Jose St, Duke, Arizona, UCLA, Colorado, and Wazzu. Who have a combined record of 15-25. This is Stanford’s first real test, and the Huskies are 5-1, and full of confidence. Andrew Luck will probably be the difference, but not that big of a difference. Slouch says: Take the Dawgs at +20 1/2

2. Oregon State at Washington State -3 1/2

I know, I know..The Cougars aren’t exactly the greatest team in the world to put your money on, but it’s 3-3 vs 1-5 on a neutral site. It would seem like the perfect time for the Cougs to breakout,  and shake off the effects of two straight losses. Even though Oregon State has had a tough start to the season, they have a passing attack that you cannot ignore. With Wazzu’s ability to turn “what should be blowout wins” into nail biters, you really cannot trust WSU in road situations. Even though WSU’s student and alumni will all be in the house, this is a road/home game. Slouch says: Protect against disaster, take OSU +3 1/2

On to the NFL

3. Seattle at Cleveland – 3 1/2

Ah yes, the epic clash of titans. This game has easy money written all over it. All of Seahawks nation have gone absolutely bananas over the last two Seahawks performances. This game will not be a star-studded affair as QB Tarvaris Jackson and the no huddle all-stars are out. Charlie Whitehurst is the starting QB, and he is not a good QB. It’s also worth mentioning agian that Seattle is on the road. Let that sink in for a moment,  I’ll wait….Never, ever is it a good idea to place money on the Hawks on the road. Slouch says: Come on now! Take the Browns -3 1/2    Cappers Picks

4. Pittsburgh -3 1/2 at Arizona

I love this match-up. Not because I think Pittsburgh is a great team, but because Arizona continues to find new ways to lose ball games. I’m almost certain that Kevin Kolb isn’t stressing the 5 fumbles and 6 int’s (1 per game) and 58 com% that he has. If I was Pittsburgh I wouldn’t be either. That’s 2 turnovers per game. With Pittsburgh’s 12th ranked offense, I’m more then confident they can convert those turnovers into points. What’s the NFL’s exchange rate these days? Slouch says: No question, Steelers and the -3 1/2

5. Denver at Maimi -3 1/2

Will the Tim Tebow saga never end! Probably not, but this game really is a no-brainer. Miami is horrible, no terrible, wait…Disgusting! There is no signs of a QB, no RB’s, and no signs of life for the almost departed Tony Sporano. Come to think think of it, why is Miami even favored in this game? Slouch says:  Do you dare go against Tebow? Denver and the +3 1/2

Enjoy your weekend, and the games.

Kick your feet back, open up a cold one or a few, and let it ride this weekend.

And always remember who made your Monday that much more sweeter.
