Ryan Longwell was born on August 16th, 1974 in Seattle, Washington but started his path to the NFL playing football in Bend, Oregon as a kicker and the team’s backup quarterback.
A consummate athlete, Longwell also honed his craft in baseball – he would earn all-conference honors in baseball as well as in football.

Longwell attended the University of California, Berkeley where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and served as both a punter and kicker for the football program.
There he received all-conference honors in the Pac-10.
Undrafted, Longwell caught on with the San Francisco 49ers but he didn’t play a game for that organization.
In 1997, things changed for Ryan Longwell. He was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers where he would play eight seasons and play in one Super Bowl.
With Green Bay, Longwell became the All-Time leading scorer in Packers history with 1054 points, he has the most field goals in Green Bay Packers history with 226 and he kicked third-longest field goal in Green Bay Packers history (54 yards – tied with Chris Jacke and Dave Rayner).
During the 1996 offseason, Longwell relocated to Minnesota where he would play six seasons for the Vikings.
After a tumultuous six years with the Vikings, Longwell was released on May 7th, 2012 and hasn’t yet caught on with another NFL team.
