With the NHL season officially kicking off tomorrow, all of us devoted hockey fans will be scrambling to keep up with league and athlete stats, game reviews and predictions, and our own hockey pools from now through the winter and spring.


Along with Hockey Night in Canada, TSN and each team’s individual NHL website, there are several must-have mobile applications that can help Canucks fans (and other NHL die-hards) stay connected to the good ol’ hockey game on their iPhones and Androids.

1. Official team apps: The Vancouver Canucks mobile app for iPhone + Android

The Canucks app gives fans instant access to live behind-the-scenes video from games, up to the second scores, stats and standings, and interactive player cards.

The app can stream live games to your mobile device, so you can watch the game on the go.

The Calgary Flames, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Chicago Blackhawks also have official NHL team mobile apps.

2. ESPN ScoreCentre App

The ESPN ScoreCentre app keeps fans connected to their favourite NHL teams through personalized scoreboards and live-game details like in-game stats, box scores, scoring summaries and standings.

3. CBC Hockey App

Fans can compare standings by division and conference, and follow the complete NHL schedule including CBC broadcasts and streaming info on the CBC Hockey App.

The Vancouver Canucks begin the regular season against the Pittsburg Penguins on home ice tomorrow at 7 p.m.
