The Moda Center (formerly known as The Rose Garden) has landed Rip City an Arena Football team that will begin play in 2014.

Portland’s landscape of professional sports teams will have a new member beginning in March 2014 as the Arena Football League (AFL) returns to the Rose City for the first time since 1999. The yet-to-be named franchise will be owned by Terry W. Emmert, CEO of Clackamas-based Emmert International, an engineered transport and structural relocation company specializing in ultra-heavy duty transit. Plans for the new team will be unveiled as part of a media briefing inside the Moda Center, future home arena for the franchise.
