Beautiful day for some Homecoming football!
It’s a warm, sunny morning here in Vancouver, probably one of few we’ll see this fall. So if you’re in the city today, consider heading west to UBC campus for some epic tailgate parties – and probably some good football too.
Yes it’s that time of year again – Homecoming is upon is. They’ll be music, face painting, hot dogs and beer, along with the UBC Thunderbirds looking for revenge against the Manitoba Bisons, who killed them in a 40-17 defeat at last year’s homecoming. Things are different in 2011 – the Thunderbirds are having an impressive start to the season, feeling good after their 40-30 defeat against the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
“This game will give us an idea of where we stand in the grand scheme of things,” said UBC Head Coach Shawn Olson in a UBC Football report. “We’ll be half way through the season and this is a team where if we have any aspirations of accomplishing something this year more than just in the regular season, then this is a team I have a feeling we’re going to have to beat.”
The Thunderbirds are currently ranked no. 9 and the Bisons no. 10 in the Football Reporters of Canada-CIS Top Ten.
