Players like Earl Thomas, Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Brandon Browner, Marshawn Lynch, and Kam Chancellor all give Seattle a shot at reaching another Super Bowl. And though the plethora of talent across the board is great for the direction the team is headed, it often creates a tough environment for rookies to really break out in. Watch for Jesse Williams and Chris Harper in 2013.

What may sound like a reality show in the making actually occurred this past weekend, as standout cornerback Richard Sherman decided to head over to the VMAC (Virginia Mason Athletic Center) to check out how this years’ rookie camp was progressing.

One way is to question it like every other analyst seems to do whenever Pete and John make a selection in the early rounds. Or, you could go with the seemingly more popular “I have faith in the front office, considering their track record in previous drafts.” Jordin, however, tries to get inside the genius of Pete and John.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks’ blogger Brett Bivens talks about Seattle’s 2013 NFL Draft class in comparison to the classes of other teams. I do not believe you can grade a draft class for at least 3 years. Before that you are grading the team on player potential and not production. There is a reason Mel Kiper works for ESPN and not an NFL franchise. Maybe later this offseason I will take a look at the 2010 Seahawks draft class, the first class of the Pete Carroll and John Schneider era.

History shows us that teams get more fan support when they win, but even if defeat, the Seahawks fan base has been much more supportive than the Mariners. I give the ownership’s of these two teams credit for that. The Seahawks ownership is always moving forward, while the Mariners ownership seems content on being a lousy team.

NWSB Editor and Insider Chris Anderson predicts what Seattle’s defensive line will look like in 2013. The Seahawks were one of the top defenses in the league last year. Allowing just 306.2 yards per game, 5.1 yards per play, 15.3 points per game, 103.1 rushing yards per game, and 203.1 passing yards per game, you’d think Seattle would have managed to get to the quarterback more often than not. But that wasn’t really the case.

One thing to look for when watching small school players play is if they are the best player on the field. With Smith, you can absolutely see that he is the best player on the field. Smith is a DT out of New Hampshire. Last season as a senior, Smith led the team with nine tackles for a loss, four sacks and three blocked kicks and earned multiple postseason honors.

NWSB Insider and Seattle Seahawks Blogger Brett Bivens recaps the team’s seventh round pick, Ty Powell. Brett says most experts feel Seattle could look to him as a depth option as a situation pass rusher behind Chris Clemons, Bruce Irvin and Cliff Avril. Powell recorded 40 tackles, with 15 for loss, and 8.5 sacks during his senior season. Powell is the first player from the Arkansas school to be drafted in 30 years. Powell played defensive end, linebacker and safety at Harding.

Brett says most experts feel Seymour’s versatility could be a key for his hopes of making a crowded roster with Paul McQuistan, James Carpenter, John Moffitt and J.R. Sweezy all returning at the position. The Seahawks selected Seymour with the pick they received when they sent Barrett Ruud to the New Orleans Saints last year.
